The hotel opened its door in 1899 by David and Jennie Curry, a tented camp so that visitors could enjoy the beauty of Yosemite for a modest price. They advertised "a good bed and clean napkin with every meal" for a small price. Today, the establishment otherwise known around Yosemite as Camp Curry still offers park visitors' comfortable, inexpensive lodging right in the shadow of spectacular Glacier Point and Half Dome. Scattered throughout the village, guests will find comfortable Yosemite cabins with private baths, plus standard motel rooms, and canvas tent cabins for all visitors taste.
